Ryder is mobile! He started crawling 3 days ago. Funny story: He was playing on the ground with his toys while I was hooked up to the old breast pump. Realizing I was immobilized, Ryder made his move: He decided now was a good time to start crawling, charged towards my Dad's dirty outdoor work shoes, pulled some electrical cords, and the turned towards me to try and pull the plastic tubes out of the pump. My life just got a little trickier! I was also talking to Jesse on the phone at this time, so we quickly signed on to Skype so he could see his son crawl for the first time. Good timing! Jesse is in AZ for 3 weeks at Free Fall/Halo school jumping over and over out of perfectly good airplanes...
Ryder's two bottom teeth came in about 2 weeks ago and they are sharp little suckers! He is still mostly drinking milk, and does not like baby food. He wants adult food! He has had guacamole, carrots, pieces of my veggie burger, bananas, green beans and broccoli all cut up into tiny pieces or in his mesh feeder.
Ryder got to meet his Aunt Ashley and her boyfriend Rich on Wednesday! He really had a good time entertaining them with his baby tricks and cuteness. So glad they were randomly in town and able to visit.
We have the house all set up for Easter and will take pictures tomorrow of Ryder's crawling egg hunt and all his Easter presents.
AND YES, I am buying baby gates NOW before my wildman discovers the stairs :)
Highlights:
Carole came to town for an evening and her and Jesse got to catch up on Carole's crazy work schedule. We also got special cupcakes and celebrated her birthday a few days early.
Jori came to visit for 4 days! We went to skyzone trampoline world, pedicures, and Mellow Mushroom. We spent most of the time playing with Ryder outside and going on dog walks. Jori has become our most frequent visitor and we love having her!!
My brother David is in town and my other brother Chris came over to visit as well. Ryder gave his Uncle Chris the stare down and kept wanting to sit by him and pull his beard.
We also met our friends Russ and Ashley in Atlanta and finally met their cute kids! Despite having three kids under two at lunch we were able to control the chaos and catch up with old friends.
We had the most fun brunch with Becky and Egon at her parents new house in Sugarloaf. Dickey and Armand Balsano made us a very delicious (and thoughtful!) brunch. We all had such a great time!! I wish we were able to stay longer.
Ryder milestones:
This month Ryder got really good and very fast with his baby walker. He is now chasing the dogs and cats and loves getting to the stair case and looking at the post on the hand rail. We don't question why, but he loves looking at it, and when we get him close enough, her likes to try and bite it.
Ryder now drinks very well out of straws. I have to make sure to hide my tea of he will sneak some sips. The first time he drank from it he spit it out. Thank goodness it's decaf!
We now have to put Ryder in his vibrating chair, and turn on Barney to distract him enough into eating. He is so busy playing that he doesn't want to stop and eat!
He is still not too into eating solids and just prefers mamma's milk.
Ryder loves going on dog walks and hanging out in the baby back pack with his daddy. He falls asleep on the way home 99% of the time.
His teeth have still not burst through. I can see and feel them, but they are just not popping through. Poor little guy!
Ryder is still not crawling...WELL, he can scoot backwards, but no forward crawling on his hands and knees. He prefers to roll to get where he wants to go. I think he might be one of the 6% of kids that walks first. He "walks" around in his Juppy and with us holding his hands and he is getting really quick and has good balance.
Jesse is gearing up for several weeks of training so we are REALLY going to miss having him around. He is such a good father, and husband and his 30 days of leave have flown by! We are looking forward to May when we get to meet him in Destin for his training and turn it into a family vacation.
